Chase Tavern Farm is a full time family run Alpaca breeding farm located in Bowdoin, Maine ME, operated by Cindy, Tim, Charlie & Petey Lavan. They breed their Alpacas for quality fiber, conformation and character and produce quality offspring and herdsires.
Both Cindy and Tim have an extensive professional background in the Alpaca breeding industry. Cindy served on the national alpaca association’s (AOBA) Board of Directors, and was also chairperson for the national marketing committee. Tim is an AOBA Certified Fleece, Halter and Performance Judge and has years of experience showing alpacas in the ring and evaluating quality in conformation and fleece.
The Alpacas on the farm are also sheared for their luxurious fleece. The fleece is then handspun, then knitted and woven into wonderful fleece products sold on the farm and at fiber stores across New England. These Alpaca fleece products include mittens, blankets, scarves, shawls and sweaters. Raw Alpaca fleece and spun yarn are also sold.
Chase Tavern Farm is known throughout the New England area as a producer of fine quality hand spinning fleeces, having won numerous awards over the years for their quality fiber and breeding program. Chase Tavern Farm is nationally known for producing quality alpacas, Huacaya & Suri and every alpaca they have ever taken to the national show has placed in its class in judging.
